Description

2-Amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol, also called Ammediol or AMPD is often used as a reaction buffer for enzymes with an activity in the basic pH range, such as alkaline phosphatase (AP). A 2.5M solution of 2-Amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol has also been used to stop the enzymatic AMPD is a buffer component used in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of proteins, specifically in SDS gradient gel systems.
