Vertellus (formerly PENTAGON in Workington) is an independent company created by an MBO of the Workington-based Specialties business from Dow in 2002 and an acquisition of the Halebank Fine Chemicals business from Great Lakes in late 2003. Vertellus´s core capabilities are in batch manufacturing of fine and speciality chemicals and associated product development supported by its wide range of technologies and process plant. Approximately 200 people are employed by the company.
